Founded in the heart of Liverpool, we are a leading audio-visual integrator with a proud history of delivering innovative technology solutions. From our beginnings to the today, our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction has defined our journey.
Originally established as Rapid Computers Ltd in 1985, Rapid Technologies was founded by Mark & Denis Stevens as a family-run business. The company emerged at the dawn of the personal micro-computer revolution in the 80s and 90s, a time when computers were rapidly transforming the landscape of both personal and professional life. With a strong focus on customer service and innovative technology, Rapid Computers quickly became a key player in the North West, recognised for its ability to provide high-quality, cutting-edge solutions.
In those early years, the company became synonymous with the micro-computer boom, offering affordable and reliable systems that were accessible to a wide range of customers. Over the decades, Rapid sold more than 50,000 micro-computers to consumers, small businesses, large corporations, and educational institutions throughout the UK. This extensive reach helped establish Rapid Computers as a trusted brand in the growing tech sector.
As technology evolved, so did we. Our experience in the computing world laid the foundation for our transition into interactive learning technologies and audio-visual solutions, marking a new era for the company as Rapid Technologies. In the late 1990s, the company underwent a corporate rebranding to better reflect the expanded product offerings and the diverse range of ICT and AV services we were providing.
By the year 2000, the Directors made the strategic decision to exit the retail PC market and shift focus on infrastructure projects within education. This was a time of significant transformation in the academic sector, driven by collaborative government initiatives like the Technology Colleges Trust. Between 2000 and 2008, as a Microsoft Gold Partner, Rapid Technologies won multiple business awards from Deloitte, recognising our consistent year-on-year growth and success as an SME in the technology sector.
By 2008, we had earned a reputation as a leading provider of academic ICT solutions, delivering campus wireless, wide-area networking, and interactive AV solutions to over 1,000 schools and institutions across the northwest. Our expertise in the sector was further solidified when we were accredited as a Platinum Partner for Smart Technologies, the global leader in interactive whiteboards. We played a key role in their success by deploying over 30,000 Smart boards into classrooms across the UK.
By 2010, the experience gained from deploying large-scale solutions in the education sector positioned Rapid Technologies to target enterprise-level organizations across the UK. Following the financial crisis, businesses were increasingly focused on driving transformation and adopting more efficient, cost-effective solutions. Leveraging our innovation and expertise, Rapid successfully implemented Eco/Green-friendly technologies, Lean Management strategies, and Virtual Meeting Room solutions for numerous national and multinational clients.
The impact of COVID-19 further accelerated the need for remote collaboration and virtual meeting solutions. As businesses adapted to new ways of working, Rapid Technologies have, and continue, to play a pivotal role in supporting organisations through this transition, delivering seamless, scalable AV solutions that facilitated remote communication, collaboration, and learning.
Fast forward to now, Rapid Technologies is regarded as one of the country’s leading specialists in audio-visual services. We provide a range of interactive meeting room solutions, digital signage, and wireless AV systems to a wide array of sectors, including FTSE companies, NHS, military, local government, manufacturing, rail, and SMEs. Our solutions are designed to enhance communication, collaboration, and efficiency, helping organisations across the UK stay at the forefront of technological innovation.
